Ingredients

For the Brownies:
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted or salted butter cubed
  • 8 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • 9x9 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Oven

Method

Directions
  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your brownies bake perfectly from start to finish.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Baking Pan: Line your 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  3. Step 3: Melt the Chocolate and Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the cubed butter and chopped chocolate. Stir constantly until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Step 4: Mix in Sugar and Vanilla: Once the chocolate mixture has cooled, whisk in the sugar and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Step 5: Incorporate Eggs: Add the room temperature eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition until fully combined.
  6. Step 6: Add Flour: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick and glossy.
  7. Step 7: Pour and Spread the Batter: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Step 8: Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges look set but the center is still soft.
  9. Step 9: Cool and Cut: Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift them out, then cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Ensure your eggs are at room temperature for better incorporation into the batter.
  • Don’t overbake; it’s better to underbake slightly for that fudgy texture you crave.
  • Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting to avoid crumbling.
