Begin by preheating your broiler to high. Position the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup (optional). Lightly coat the paper or the baking sheet with cooking spray or a little olive oil.
Place the tilapia fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Season both sides with kosher salt and fresh black pepper.
In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped fresh oregano (or dried), minced garlic, and whole wheat seasoned breadcrumbs. Drizzle in 2 teaspoons of olive oil and mix until evenly coated.
Spoon the breadcrumb mixture over each tilapia fillet, pressing it down gently to adhere.
Drizzle the remaining 2 teaspoons of olive oil over the topped fillets. Place under the broiler and cook for about 6-8 minutes until cooked through and topping is golden brown.
Remove the tilapia from the oven and let it rest for a minute. Serve with fresh lemon wedges on the side.
