Ingredients

  • 1 box Rice Chex cereal (12-oz)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 packages Butterfinger Bits (8-oz each)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spatula
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Zip-Top Bags

Method

  1. Before you start, gather all your ingredients and tools. This will make the process much smoother and more enjoyable.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, smooth peanut butter, and vegetable oil. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, pour the Rice Chex cereal. Once your chocolate and peanut butter mixture is ready, pour it over the cereal. Gently stir until all the cereal pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Carefully fold in one package of Butterfinger Bits into the chocolate-coated cereal. This will ensure that you have bits of Butterfinger in every bite of your puppy chow.
  5. In a large zip-top bag, add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Then, add the chocolate-coated cereal mixture. Seal the bag and shake vigorously until all the cereal is well coated with powdered sugar.
  6. Spread the coated puppy chow onto a cookie sheet to cool. Once it’s set, sprinkle the remaining Butterfinger Bits over the top for an extra crunch.
  7. Once cooled, you can store your Butterfinger Puppy Chow in an airtight container or serve it immediately to your eager friends and family.

Notes

  • Make sure to work quickly when coating the cereal to avoid it clumping together.
  • If you prefer a sweeter treat, feel free to increase the powdered sugar to taste.
  • For a more intense peanut butter flavor, add an extra tablespoon of peanut butter when melting.
