Ingredients

For the Dough:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 envelope instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons, RapidRise if using Fleischmann's Yeast)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup very warm water (between 120-130°F)
  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • to taste Pizza sauce (for dipping)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Dough Scraper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Pastry brush
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir to combine.
  2. Gradually pour in the warm water and ¾ cup olive oil. Use a wooden spoon to mix until a sticky dough forms. If the dough is too wet, add additional flour, a little at a time, until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Roll it out into a rectangle, about ½ inch thick. Cut into strips using a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the 3 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic, and dry ranch seasoning mix.
  8. Place the strips on a greased baking sheet, brush with the garlic mixture, and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping. Enjoy the cheesy goodness!

Notes

  • Make the dough ahead of time and store it in the fridge after the first rise for convenience.
  • Feel free to customize the flavor by adding your favorite herbs or spices.
  • These breadsticks freeze well; wrap them tightly in plastic after cooling and store in an airtight container.
