Ingredients

For the Chicken Nuggets:
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup regular or panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Three shallow bowls
  • Frying pan
  • Tongs
  • Paper towels

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Chicken - Start by cutting the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized chunks. Aim for uniform pieces to ensure even cooking.
  2. Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station - In three shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, whisk together the eggs and water until well combined. In the third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt.
  3. Step 3: Bread the Chicken - Take a piece of chicken and coat it in flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg wash, ensuring it’s fully coated. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs. Repeat this process for all the chicken pieces.
  4. Step 4: Heat the Oil - In a large frying pan, heat about an inch of vegetable oil over medium heat. To test if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of bread in; if it sizzles immediately, the oil is hot enough for frying.
  5. Step 5: Fry the Nuggets - Carefully add the breaded chicken pieces to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the nuggets are golden brown and cooked through. Use tongs to turn them as needed.
  6. Step 6: Drain and Serve - Once cooked, transfer the nuggets to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces and enjoy!

Notes

  • Using panko breadcrumbs gives a crunchier texture than regular breadcrumbs.
  • Letting the nuggets rest on paper towels helps them stay crispy by removing excess oil.
  • Experimenting with different seasonings can personalize the flavor to your liking.
  • Cooking in batches ensures that each nugget fries evenly and gets that perfect golden color.
