Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup Hershey's cocoa
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheet or cake stand

Method

  1. Start by melting 1 cup of butter in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave. Be careful not to overheat; you want it completely melted but not bubbling.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and 1 cup of Hershey's cocoa until well combined. The mixture should be smooth and glossy.
  3. Slowly add in 3 cups of powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Mix well after each addition to prevent lumps and ensure a smooth texture.
  4. Once the powdered sugar is fully incorporated, pour in 1/2 cup of half and half. Mix until the icing becomes creamy and easy to spread. Adjust the consistency by adding more half and half if necessary.
  5. Finally, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. This will enhance the flavor of the chocolate icing, making it even more delightful.
  6. Now that your chocolate icing is ready, use a spatula to spread it generously over cakes, brownies, or your favorite treats. Enjoy the rich chocolatey goodness!

Notes

  • Prepare the icing a day in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • If the icing thickens in the fridge, stir in a splash of half and half to loosen.
  • For a flavor twist, try adding mint or espresso extract!
