Baking Instructions:
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Set aside.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, melt 10 tablespoons of unsalted butter and let it cool slightly.
- Step 4: Add dark brown sugar and granulated sugar to the melted butter; mix until smooth.
- Step 5: Stir in salt, vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk until fully incorporated.
- Step 6: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Step 7: Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Step 8: Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (optional).
- Step 9: Scoop dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Step 10: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
