Ingredients

For the Dip:
  • 4 ounces brick-style cream cheese (lite is okay)
  • 14.7 ounce can chili (your favorite brand)
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick Ground Cumin
  • Pinch McCormick Crushed Red Pepper (optional and to taste)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (Monterey Jack, mozzarella, Pepper Jack, or Fontina)
  • Chips, crackers, or bread (for serving)

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking Dish
  • Oven or microwave

Method

Instructions
  1. Step 1: Soften the Cream Cheese - Begin by removing the cream cheese from its packaging and placing it in a mixing bowl. Allow it to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, or microwave it for about 10-15 seconds until it’s soft and easily spreadable.
  2. Step 2: Combine Ingredients - Once the cream cheese is softened, add the can of chili and the ground cumin to the bowl. If you love a little heat, sprinkle in a pinch of crushed red pepper. Use your spatula to mix everything together until it’s well combined and creamy.
  3. Step 3: Add Cheese & Bake - Stir in about 1/2 cup of your shredded cheese of choice. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it out evenly. Top with a little extra cheese if desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Allow the dip to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container for storage.
  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of crushed red pepper.
  • This dip can be made a day in advance; just bake before serving.
