Ingredients
  

For the Cronuts:
  • 1 box Puff Pastry Sheets
  • 1 large Egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon Water for egg wash
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil for frying
  • to taste Powdered Sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation Steps:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry. Thaw puff pastry sheets as per package instructions, roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
  2. Step 2: Cut the Cronuts. Use a large cutter for circles and a smaller one for the center to form the cronut shape.
  3. Step 3: Make the Egg Wash. Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl.
  4. Step 4: Heat the Oil. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Step 5: Fry the Cronuts. Fry cronuts in hot oil for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Cool and Dust. Transfer fried cronuts to a cooling rack and dust with powdered sugar while warm.

Notes

  • Keep puff pastry cold until frying for a flakier texture.
  • Try different fillings like custard or fruit preserves.
  • Monitor oil temperature to avoid burning.
  • Drizzle a glaze over the cronuts for extra sweetness.
