Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 6 servings
Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Avocados mashed to creamy perfection
  • 1 cup Canned tomatoes drained and coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Bottled hot sauce like Pace Picante
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil enhances texture and richness
  • 1 tablespoon Finely chopped onion adds subtle crunch and flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to bring flavors together
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh lemon juice brightens the dish
  • 1/2 teaspoon Minced garlic for aromatic depth

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Fork or Potato Masher
  • Cutting Board and Knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. Start by cutting the avocados in half, removing the pit, and scooping the flesh into a mixing bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your preferred level of creaminess.
  2. Add the drained and coarsely chopped canned tomatoes to the mashed avocados. Next, stir in the bottled hot sauce, vegetable oil, finely chopped onion, salt, fresh lemon juice, and minced garlic.
  3. Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to overmix; you want to maintain some texture while ensuring everything is evenly distributed.
  4. Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer it spicier, feel free to add more hot sauce or minced garlic. If it needs a little more brightness, a dash more lemon juice can do the trick.
  5. Transfer your El Fenix Guacamole to a serving dish. Pair it with crispy tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or use it as a delicious topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • Press plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole's surface to prevent browning.
  • Add extra lemon juice to keep the color vibrant if made in advance.
