Ingredients

For the Chicken:
  • 1.5 lbs chicken thighs Bone-in or boneless, depending on your preference.
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger peeled and minced
  • 1.5 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 0.5 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil for cooking; use sesame oil for extra flavor.
  • White sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Cutting Board and Knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula or Tongs
  • Serving dish

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Marinate the Chicken - In a medium bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, sriracha sauce, honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to create a marinade. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl, ensuring they are well-coated with the marinade. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours if you have the time.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Chicken - Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken thighs to the skillet. Cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C). If needed, you can cover the skillet to help the chicken cook evenly.
  3. Step 3: Serve and Garnish - Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Serve it over rice or in wraps, drizzled with any remaining sauce from the skillet. Sprinkle with white sesame seeds for an added crunch and visual appeal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate longer if possible.
  • You can use chicken breasts instead of thighs if you prefer, but thighs provide juiciness and flavor.
  • If you like it spicier, feel free to increase the amount of sriracha.
  • This dish can easily be doubled for meal prep or entertaining.
