Ingredients

  • 1 cup pancake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup pancake syrup
  • 4 sausage patties
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of pancake mix with 1 cup of water. Whisk until the batter is smooth, ensuring there are no lumps.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with a little olive oil. Pour about ¼ cup of the pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Repeat until all the batter is used.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sausage patties and cook over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are fully cooked and browned.
  4. Once the sausage is cooked, you can use the same skillet to fry the eggs. Add a bit more olive oil if necessary. Crack the eggs into the skillet, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook to your desired doneness—sunny side up or over easy work wonderfully.
  5. To assemble, take one pancake, place a sausage patty on top, followed by a slice of American cheese, and then an egg. Top it with another pancake and drizzle with pancake syrup.
  6. Your homemade McGriddle is now ready to be devoured! Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors.

Notes

  • Let the pancake batter sit for a few minutes before cooking for fluffier pancakes.
  • Don’t overcrowd the skillet; cook in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking.
  • Experiment with the thickness of the pancakes; thicker pancakes create a more substantial sandwich.
