Ingredients

For the Lobster:
  • 2 pieces lobster tails
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup water

Equipment

  • Instant Pot
  • Steamer Basket
  • Cooking Tongs
  • Butter Knife
  • Serving platter

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Start by thawing the lobster tails if they are frozen. Once thawed, use kitchen scissors to cut the top shell of the lobster tail down the center, stopping just before the tail fin. Gently pull apart the shell to expose the meat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mixture generously over the lobster meat for a flavorful kick.
  3. Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the Instant Pot. This will create the steam needed to cook the lobster tails.
  4. If using a steamer basket, place it inside the Instant Pot and arrange the lobster tails on top. If not, simply place the lobster tails directly in the pot, ensuring they are above the water level.
  5. Close the lid of the Instant Pot, ensuring it is sealed properly. Set it to cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. The Instant Pot will take a few minutes to come to pressure, so don’t be alarmed by the total cooking time.
  6. Once the cooking time is up, perform a quick release by carefully turning the valve to venting. Once all the steam is released, open the lid and check the lobster tails for doneness. They should be opaque and tender.
  7. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and drizzle it over the lobster tails. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure lobster tails are thawed completely before cooking for even results.
  • Check for doneness by ensuring the lobster is opaque and reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
  • Don't skip the butter; it enhances the flavor immensely!
