Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 tbsp agave nectar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup raisins

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat Your Oven. Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F (160°C). This will ensure that your granola toasts evenly, achieving that perfect golden-brown color.
  2. Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped almonds, wheat germ, salt, and cinnamon. Stir them together until they are evenly mixed.
  3. Step 3: Combine the Wet Ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dark brown sugar, pure maple syrup, canola oil, agave nectar, and vanilla extract. Make sure to mix until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  4. Step 4: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients. Pour the wet ingredient mixture over the dry ingredient mixture. Use a spatula to mix everything together until all the oats and nuts are well coated.
  5. Step 5: Spread on Baking Sheet. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the granola mixture onto the sheet. Spread it out evenly, pressing down slightly to ensure it clumps together as it bakes.
  6. Step 6: Bake to Perfection. Bake the granola in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through to promote even toasting. Keep an eye on it towards the end to prevent over-browning.
  7. Step 7: Add Raisins. Once the granola is golden and crispy, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle the raisins over the top, gently folding them into the warm granola.
  8. Step 8: Cool and Store. Let the granola cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, transfer it to an airtight container. Your homemade Maple Almond Granola is now ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to swap almonds for other nuts like walnuts or pecans based on your preference.
  • If you don’t have agave nectar, honey can be used as a substitute.
  • For a gluten-free option, use certified gluten-free rolled oats.
