Ingredients

For the Brownies:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp pure orange extract
  • 1 tsp grated orange zest
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
For the Orange Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • 9x13-inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures your brownies bake evenly.
  2. Step 2: Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  3. Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar. Use a whisk to blend them until creamy. Add salt, eggs, orange extract, and grated orange zest. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Step 4: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour with a spatula, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick and fudgy.
  5. Step 5: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Step 6: While the brownies are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest in a medium bowl until smooth.
  7. Step 7: Once the brownies are done, let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment to lift them out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the glaze over the top.
  8. Step 8: Once the glaze has set, slice the brownies into squares and serve. Enjoy!

Notes

  • These brownies can be made ahead of time; store in an airtight container.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut oil for butter.
  • Add nuts like walnuts for extra crunch if desired.
