Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or cookie scoop

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Take a small portion of dough, flatten it, place an Oreo in the center, and cover it with more dough, sealing the Oreo inside.
  7. Place the cookies on a lined cookie sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • For a gooey center, underbake the cookies slightly.
  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
  • Try flavored Oreos for a fun twist!
  • Use parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
