Ingredients
  

  • 6 pound beef brisket well-marbled
  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • carrots chopped
  • onions chopped
  • celery chopped

Equipment

  • Large roasting pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Meat thermometer
  • Sharp knife

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and slather with yellow mustard.
  3. Combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper; rub onto the brisket.
  4. Add beef broth and chopped vegetables to the roasting pan.
  5. Place the brisket on top of the vegetables, cover with aluminum foil, and braise.
  6. Braise for 4 to 5 hours until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).
  7. Let the brisket rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t rush the cooking time for tender brisket.
  • Avoid too much liquid; just enough to braise.
  • Rest the brisket before slicing for juiciness.
