Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and mayonnaise. Whisk together until smooth and fully blended.
  2. Gradually add the milk to the sour cream and mayonnaise mixture. Continue whisking until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Add the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the bowl. Whisk well to incorporate all the flavors.
  4. Stir in the chopped dill and chives. These fresh herbs are key to achieving that classic ranch flavor.
  5. Add the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and a few dashes of Tabasco sauce. Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you desire more tang, add a bit more lemon juice or Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Transfer the ranch dressing to your storage container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute sour cream with dairy-free yogurt and milk with plant-based milk.
  • If the dressing separates, whisk it again before serving.
