Ingredients

For the Salmon:
  • 4 fillets skinless salmon (about 6 oz each) (about 1-inch thick)
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (diced into 1 tbsp pieces)
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh parsley
  • Lemon slices (for garnish, optional)

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Serving platter

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Salmon - Start by patting the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a nice sear. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. Step 2: Heat the Skillet - In a large non-stick skillet, heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to become hot but not smoking.
  3. Step 3: Sear the Salmon - Gently place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin side down if they had skin. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving them, allowing a golden crust to form.
  4. Step 4: Flip the Salmon - Carefully flip the salmon using a spatula. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is just cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Step 5: Make the Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce - Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside on a plate. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Step 6: Add Broth and Lemon Juice - Pour in the low-sodium chicken broth and fresh lemon juice. Stir to combine, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the skillet for extra flavor.
  7. Step 7: Finish with Butter and Honey - Reduce the heat to low and add the diced butter and honey to the skillet. Stir until the butter has melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy.
  8. Step 8: Combine and Serve - Return the salmon to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Allow it to simmer for a minute to absorb the flavors. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of broth to keep it moist.
  • For a refreshing meal, flake the salmon over a salad.
