Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1-2 tablespoons taco seasoning or more to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 cups salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6-inch tortillas (66-inch tortillas are also great for larger servings)

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Oven mitts
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for crispy tortillas.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onion. Season with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper, cooking until the beef is fully browned and the onions are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Lay out your tortillas on the baking sheet. Optionally fold them slightly for a taco shape.
  4. Spoon the cooked beef mixture into each tortilla, then pour salsa over the beef and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the tortillas are slightly crispy.
  6. Remove from oven, cool for a minute, and serve with your favorite toppings like sour cream, guacamole, or fresh cilantro.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes for best results.
  • Feel free to swap ground beef for turkey or a plant-based alternative for a lighter option.
