Ingredients

For the Brownie:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips optional

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Fork or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 8 oz ramekin or small baking dish
  • Oven or microwave

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Melt the Butter - Start by melting the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in short bursts of 15 seconds until fully melted. Let it cool slightly.
  2. Step 2: Mix in the Sugar - Once the butter has cooled, add ½ cup of granulated sugar to the bowl. Stir until well combined and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Step 3: Incorporate the Cocoa Powder - Next, sift in ¼ cup of cocoa powder to avoid any lumps. Mix thoroughly until the cocoa is fully incorporated.
  4. Step 4: Add the Egg and Vanilla - Crack in 1 egg and pour in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Whisk until everything is nicely blended.
  5. Step 5: Fold in the Dry Ingredients - Add 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt to the mixture. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Step 6: Optional Add-Ins - If you’re feeling adventurous, fold in ¼ cup of chopped chocolate or chocolate chips for an extra gooey texture.
  7. Step 7: Pour and Bake - Pour the brownie batter into your greased ramekin or small baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly moist.
  8. Step 8: Cool and Enjoy - Let your Single Serve Brownie cool for a few minutes before digging in. Serve it warm for the best experience!

Notes

  • Don't skip the salt! It enhances the chocolate flavor.
  • For a quicker fix, microwave the batter for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
