Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp cayenne pepper start with 2 and adjust to taste
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup chicken broth

Equipment

  • Slow cooker
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Start by placing the boneless skinless chicken breasts in the slow cooker. You can either leave them whole or cut them into large chunks for quicker cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cayenne pepper, brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder. Stir well to create a spice blend.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the spice mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter with the chicken broth. Pour this mixture over the seasoned chicken.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Once the cooking time is up, use tongs to remove the chicken from the slow cooker. Shred the chicken using two forks.
  7. Before serving, taste the chicken and adjust the cayenne pepper to your liking.
  8. Serve your Slow Cooker Nashville Hot Chicken on a fluffy bun with pickles or over a bed of rice.

Notes

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper for desired spice level.
  • Add sliced bell peppers or onions for extra flavor.
  • Mix shredded chicken with cooked pasta for a casserole.
