Ingredients

For the Dip:
  • 1 package cream cheese (8 ounce, softened)
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium tomato (seeded and diced)
  • 1 small green pepper (stemmed, seeded, and diced)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 2 scallions (thinly sliced)
  • Jalapeño peppers (sliced, optional)
  • Tortilla chips

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Serving dish
  • Knife and cutting board

Method

Preparation Steps:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use a spatula to mix until smooth and creamy. This will be the base layer of your taco dip.
  2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cream cheese and sour cream mixture. Stir well to ensure that the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the creamy base.
  3. Spread the creamy mixture evenly in your serving dish. This will be the first layer of your taco dip.
  4. Next, sprinkle the shredded lettuce over the cream layer. This adds a fresh, crunchy texture.
  5. Evenly distribute the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the lettuce layer.
  6. Top your dip with diced tomatoes, green peppers, and black olives. Make sure to spread them out evenly.
  7. Finally, sprinkle the sliced scallions on top and add jalapeño slices if desired.
  8. Cover the dip with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, consider using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
  • For added flavor, try using spicy taco seasoning.
