Cooking Steps
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced yellow onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until it begins to soften. Add the red and green bell peppers along with the minced garlic. Continue to cook until the vegetables are tender and fragrant, about another 5 minutes.
- Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the skillet. In the other side, add the ground turkey meat. Break it up with a spatula and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir everything together once the turkey is cooked through.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, and salt. Mix well to ensure the turkey and vegetables are evenly coated in the spices. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- While the turkey mixture is cooking, prepare your butter leaf lettuce by rinsing it gently under cold water and patting it dry with a paper towel. Carefully separate the leaves, making sure to keep them whole for wrapping.
- To serve, spoon a generous amount of the turkey and vegetable mixture into each lettuce leaf. Top with your choice of shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, avocado, sour cream, or any other favorite toppings.
Notes
- Store leftover turkey mixture in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Keep lettuce separate to maintain crunchiness until serving.
- Reheat turkey filling before assembling wraps for best taste.
